Are my thoughts useful?

How to silence the inner voice

First Published 1 April 2021

I’ve done a lot of work on this area over the last few years and have managed to almost silence my inner voice to stop the negative self talk.  On Wednesday afternoon I came across a TEDx talk that covered this really succinctly.

If you don’t have time to watch the full video, all 13 and a half minutes of it!!
*SPOILER* the two questions to ask in those moments of loud negative self talk – or a bluebottle moment as a client recently referred to that chatter as – are 1. Are my thoughts useful? and 2. How do they behave?

My suggestion for you if you experience moments like this are to stop and ask yourself these questions.  Perhaps dig a little bit.  And then dig a little bit more… I think you might find some really interesting answers – and some moments of clarity along the way.

I may have given the meat of the video away but, I still think it is well worth a watch to see how far he has come from being stuck in the chatter to now silencing it.

In other news…

I really swithered around whether to tell anyone this or not… I am taking part in a radio interview tomorrow (Friday) at around 17:15 – will only last about 10 minutes and will be about Inner Pathways – if you fancy a listen you can tune in here – https://chatandspinradio.com/ I understand it will then be available on catch up for a week or so if you miss it!  I’ve never been on the radio before… eek!
