Which costs more – Maintenance or repair?
First Published 2 September 2021
I got an update from a YouTube channel I subscribe to with a ‘short’ to answer this question. The video is a whopping 10 seconds long and if that’s too much for you – it’s the same guy from the ‘why worry’ video I shared a few months ago. He basically tells us that whether it’s a house, a machine or a relationship – maintenance is always cheaper than repair.
This goes along quite nicely with the road and car based analogies that by now you will probably know I use a lot!! We take our car’s for a service – probably knowing that if we don’t we will likely need to pay more when it breaks down – in time as well as money. Until the joys of 2020 we would most likely go for 2 check-ups a year with the dentist to hopefully prevent pain (and money and sleepless nights and bad moods) if we catch any problems before they turn in to the painful type. But, how often do we do the same for our bodies and minds?
I’ll leave you with a quote I came across recently (unfortunately I don’t know who said it so I can’t credit them):
“If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness”
