Snot Monsters

Calling All Snot Monsters

Yes – you read that right!!  It’s the time of year when the sun is shining (regardless of the temperature!!), the flowers are in bloom and the grass needs cut.  On the face of it that sounds pretty good… unless you have Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis – otherwise known as hay fever!

If you have or are close to anyone who suffers from hay fever, you will know just how unpleasant it can be.  The runny itchy nose coupled with uncontrollable sneezing, the streaming itchy eyes that end up so bloodshot it’s scary to look in the mirror – or so swollen you can’t see to even look in the mirror, and even that really weird itchy feeling in the back of your throat/behind your ears.  There are eye drops, nasal sprays, inhalers, tablets and possibly even injections to attempt to control it.  And a lot of the time even those can’t control the symptoms.

With Kinesiology, we look at what’s actually going on in your body.  We then work towards pressing the reset button which allows us to raise tolerance levels and sometimes, even going as far as re-programming the body to realise that pollen (or almost any other allergen) isn’t a threat thereby removing or at the least, greatly reducing the need for medication.

A wee example to show the benefits – I was diagnosed with hay fever in the early 90’s and in the early 00’s I was diagnosed with Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS – approx 50-75% of people with birch pollen allergies will have this – it causes mild anaphylaxis).  Over the years the doctor’s had prescribed me with nasal spray, eye drops and tablets (all to take at the same time) and a pair of epi-pens (adrenaline injectors).  Eventually working out the pills on their own were the best option (as well as the epi-pens – just in case) – and I was to take them all year round.  When the hay fever symptoms flared up I was told I could take as many of the one a day pills as I needed to control the symptoms (think the max I took was 4 a day!).  With Kinesiology, I am pleased to say the OAS is mostly gone and my hay fever symptoms only appear really mildly for maybe a total of 10 days a year – on days when my tolerance levels are low.  I think that’s a pretty big win! And one of the big reasons I love working with this therapy.

So, if you or anyone you know has trouble with hay fever (or any other allergies) please do get in touch and lets see if we can get your body to ignore the pollen and allow you/them to enjoy the sunshine without the need for an industrial sized box of tissues!
