Are changes in the workplace beneficial?
First Published 28 October 2021
Way back in March, I was talking about work life balance as a lot of us had been working from home for a year – and some were finding it tough to keep that balance. Fast forward to now, and a lot of people are facing the challenges of having to go back to the work place full time. But perhaps hybrid working is potentially a better way to work?
This morning, I was on a networking call where the guest speaker was discussing just that. I know we don’t all get to choose which working model we get to work, but interestingly the number of companies offering working from home for at least part of the work week is on the increase (the figures shared on the call were that only 35% of employers offered regular work from home pre-pandemic expecting to increase to 63% post). So if you are hoping for hybrid working then there is a good chance you will be able to do so.
If you do keep the work from home aspect as part of your life – a wee reminder to look after yourself and to keep that balance might be in order. Especially with the number of hours you work – another observation made at the meeting was that the number of people putting in unpaid overtime was higher amongst those working from home! As many of you will know, my last corporate based role used the hybrid work model so, if you would like some of my top tips for keeping a healthy work life balance, that is right for you then reach out or give me a call for a catch up! Alternatively, if you are facing discomfort around returning to the work place, let’s get a session booked in to help navigate any anxiety or worry in that area.
