To declutter or not to declutter?
First Published 21 October 2021
This has been on my to do list for most of the year!
A number of years ago I was reading a book (surprise surprise) I think it was by Denise Linn and one of the things she talked about was, when working with clients, she got them to declutter their junk drawer – you know, that one most of us have… The difference this made in her clients lives was surprisingly impactful. From pain relief to changing the state of mind to a much happier place and many more improvements in their lives.
Last week, I was on a Denise Duffield Thomas ‘5 day challenge’ where her first step to changing your money mindset was to declutter – and she suggested to start with shaving something suggesting for the ladies to shave their legs!! (not that men can’t shave their legs too if they wanted to… 😉).
Whether it’s your junk drawer or your legs; your sock drawer (pairing up socks and throwing out the threadbare ones); the collection of plastic take away tubs (or is it just me that collects these?!?); pens that don’t work anymore; paperwork or even your wardrobe as a whole; my suggestion this week is to declutter something and see how it feels. Notice if you feel lighter or if something just clicks in to place – I’d love to hear how you get on.
As for me – I am decluttering the shed first (even though the plan was to tackle the spare bedroom to set up an office in there over the winter). I added a touch of colour to one of the walls yesterday and am planning on rearranging the furniture and that will require reorganising all the cupboards so decluttering is on the cards! There may be photos when it’s done if I am happy with it 😂
Let me know what is on your list to declutter in the comments!
