NEW YEAR, NEW PLAN?

New Year, New Plan?

First Published 30 December 2021

We so often hear the phrase ‘a new year means a new me’ but is that helpful (or even healthy)?

I hope everyone has had a week or so of good food, good films and good conversations with friends and or family (although if you have fallen foul of any truly terrible films please do share!!! My tip is to avoid “A Castle for Christmas” it was truly terrible!).  But back to the point!!!

New year’s tend to bring new year’s resolutions and reflections of the year gone by.  I don’t know if I like the resolutions aspect all that much – but I do like the idea of deciding on new goals and then making new plans to fulfil them – or revising old ones to make them more beneficial and achievable.  Which (and this wasn’t part of my masterplan when I wrote the previous paragraph!) reminds me of a film I watched this week that I did enjoy – Shang-Chi – where one of the characters was learning to use a bow and arrow and was told:

If You Aim At Nothing, You Hit Nothing.”

The simplicity of that struck me (I thought it was also quite deep!) and just how true it is.

So, what are you aiming for?

If you would like some accountability, make sure you share your aims – with me (or wider by hitting comment below) or with a friend who you can trust to keep you accountable!!

Start with the aim/goal, then make plans to make it happen – you might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve!  And if you would like support to get there – you know where I am!
