A Change of scenery

Can a change of scenery help everything?

First Published 28 April 2022

As I got the idea for what I wanted to talk about today I was searching for quotes about a change of scenery and I came across this one (by a baseball pitcher who I hadn’t heard of before)

“A change of scenery can help everything” Drew Promeranz

I think I was more aware of the concept of a change being as good as a rest.  I think I like both concepts!

I had lunch back in January with an photography ex-classmate, and we both agreed, the last wee while has not been good for our landscape portfolios.  During class time, we were always on the hunt for the next great landscape but since we graduated and then we weren’t allowed to travel very far during 2020, we kinda got out of the habit.  So – we committed to getting out one day a month to hunt for landscapes.  My challenge was lighthouses and hers were coastal shots so it made sense that we would have day trips together.  (We will be ‘launching’ a blog of our adventures shortly!).

But, why am I telling you all this?  In a bit of a follow on from a few weeks ago when I talked about self care, having just had one of these days this week, I can confirm I am following my own suggestions.
We had a blooming brilliant day out, I got 3 different lighthouses and a couple coastal shots too, I found some new beaches to explore and I feel like I have properly re-charged my batteries!  (even managed to get my wee lighthouse keyring in to the shots – see above!)

Another huge benefit to this change of scenery, was that I feel that my creativity has been sparked again.  My brain feels full of ideas – we even started discussing what next year’s theme/challenge would be – and we have only just started this year’s!

When was the last time you took the day out/off and did something different or had a change of scenery?

What sparks your creativity? As most of you probably know, I also have a photography business (although this one is my main focus) – I need the photography to fuel my creativity which in turn ‘feeds my soul’ and really allows for me to do even better work when I am coaching or running a kinesiology or hypno session.

What benefits do you find when you allow yourself to be creative?  I’d love to know – so hit reply and let me know.  Alternatively, if you feel disconnected from your creativity, book a zoffee and lets have a chat to see if there are any creative endeavours we can tease out of you.
