Real Life Uncertainty

Where in life are we truly certain?

First Published 11 August 2022

When was the last time you were absolutely certain?  Certain about every single last detail of a situation or an event?

From the weather, to everyone else’s reactions, to a minute by minute play of what was going to happen?

I’m not sure I have ever experienced a situation where everything was certain. So, why then do we find uncertainty so unsettling?

We can’t be certain of every single thing, every single day, for every minute of our lives. Yet, even the concept of the uncertain aspects of life can terrify us, or give us a feeling of apprehension or anxiety, or, at the very least, teeny tiny amounts of stress.

Uncertainty is all around us.  We can put things in place to deal with some aspects of it, make some guesswork, and generally hope for the best.

But there may always be that little bit of a fear factor.

And as you can see, as we talked about it in Therapists in Conversation this month, we have all faced quite a considerable amount of uncertainty over the last couple of years.

But that’s not to say uncertainty has to be scary.

There’s always an opportunity.

There’s always something to look forward to in that uncertainty, that spontaneity of what life actually is.

So, come join us and have a watch and if you like, (and even if you don’t…) help us out by hitting that subscribe button (blatant attempt to get ‘likes’ – was it obvious?🤣).

Come watch the latest episode of Therapists in Conversation where we talk about uncertainty (links below) –  what we think, what we feel, and any observations that we have, along with how we help our clients manage that minefield.  Lesley even gets a little bit scientific on us 😳

I’d to love to hear what you’re thinking on the topic and what your thoughts are on the episode. Just hit comment!
