Happy Star Wars day!
First Published 4 May 2023
So, on this day where it’s almost expected to be wished “May the Force be with you” (and whether or not you respond with “and also with you” – when you know you know!), I’d like to talk about my favourite Yoda quote that I still talk to clients about on a fairly regular basis…
Do, or do not – there is no try!
The only thing I would recommend to ‘try’ is to try to stop using the word ‘try’!
It’s so easy to fall in to the try trap. It’s a good ‘scapegoat’ if something doesn’t work out or as an excuse to not go all in on something.
My strong suggest (while the force is with you) is to choose to do something – anything – and to start taking the steps to do that thing.
And then celebrate the heck out of it for committing and starting to take action!
I was on a call at daft o’clock on Sunday morning that had me committing to taking action – is it easy? No! But I don think it will be more than worth it if I keep taking action!
Alternatively – there is also power in choosing NOT to do something! Is there something that would benefit you to stop doing (my plan is to stop consuming caffeine after 4pm – this being awake all night is not good for my levels of grumpiness!)
Let me know what you choose to ‘do’ (or not do) – I’d love to celebrate with you and take comfort in the fact I’m not alone in taking some new potentially scary actions!!
