Inspiration, Come Back Please, I Miss You!

What do you do when Inspiration decides to go on holiday without you?

First Published 1 June 2023

My inspiration left me today.  Just packed it’s bags and went on holiday – so what else can I do when it comes to writing a weekly email, than to talk about it behind it’s back… 🤣

Inspiration can help us to achieve goals, help us to take action – I’d even go as far as to say it provides us with the spark and motivation to take those actions, even when things are tough or scary, when it can feel so much safer not to!

It can improve our mood, giving us a zest for life, fun and enjoyment.

It’s the driving force for our creativity.  It can help us feel better connected to others and satisfied with life.

So – what on earth am I meant to do to get it back…?  Well below the pic are some things that have worked for me in the past (and I’m off to try some of them now!).

Do please share any of your go to tips for finding your inspiration!

  • Spend time in nature – go for a walk or find your nearest park bench
  • Read inspiring books – or any book really (I use this one a lot!!)
  • Listen to music that makes you happy (my favourite band are releasing their new album next week! And their music normally has me grinning so I am looking forward to inspiration from them!!)
  • Spend time with people who support and lift you up – raise your vibrations, laugh, debate and generally enjoy yourself!
  • Get enough sleep – we are all different and all need just the right amount of sleep for us (unusual I know but it’s been a bit warmer than normal here so my sleep has been impacted!)
  • Take a break.  Step away from the computer / phone / typewriter / canvas / camera / which ever medium that inspiration is lacking in.  Sometimes 5 minutes can be enough.  Other times you might just need a holiday!
  • Set small goals – maybe even silly little ones – they might not be as silly as you think!
  • Have fun.  Do something you love – whether it’s cooking, going to a gig or the cinema or spending time with your neighbour’s pet – find something that makes you feel good (keep it legal please!) and just have fun!

I was aiming for 5 but ended up giving you 8 – maybe my inspiration heard my plea when I created the image above… “I promise I’ll be nice and stop talking about you if you stay close by from now on…”

Do please share your tips.  And if you are in need of inspiration and the above isn’t doing it for you, come find some balance with a kinesiology session!
