Spring has Sprung
First Published 23 March 2023
This week brought with it the start of Spring for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. What does that mean for you if anything? What have you noticed?
For me, I’ve spotted the new shoots and leaves starting to appear on my rose bush and with that comes the hope that I’ll be able to turn the heating off soon!
I’ve noticed that the days are getting longer and I don’t need to put the lights on in the middle of the afternoon anymore!
For thousands of years the vernal (or Spring) equinox has been celebrated as a time of renewal, joy and rebirth. It happens (as it did at the start of the week) when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is such that the length of night and day are approximately equal. This was cause for celebrations, traditions and rituals for many cultures.
Spring will hopefully also bring with it a greater chance to enjoy the warmth of the sun (yes I know I live in Scotland, but a girl can dream!) and a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature as it awakes from it’s Winter snooze.
Can I suggest you take a moment to review any New Year’s resolutions or plans/dreams for 2023? Are they still valid or have things changed for you? Do they need to be updated/tweaked? Are you on track?
I ask these questions not for you to to beat yourself up if you aren’t where you had hoped to be, rather for you to notice what you have achieved this year and to tweak or course correct to continue making progress. If on the other hand you feel that progress hasn’t been made, take a moment to think about why you had these goals/plans in the first place. Are they things you really want? If not, how can you change the focus and work towards something you do want?
As always, if you would like a hand or need a sounding board, I am here and the link to my calendar for a complimentary chat is still open. I’m also a little bit nosy so if you feel like sharing, do please we up in the comments or send me a message and let me know how things are going for you.
