How is 2025 looking for you?

First published 2 January 2025

Wow – where did 2024 go?  It really doesn’t feel like 12 months ago that I was planning out what I wanted to achieve by the 1st of January 2025 – and here we are on the 2nd already!

Re-reading what I wrote I’ve discovering that some things had come to pass and some others hadn’t.  There were also a few that had me scratching my head and wondering what I was thinking when I wrote them!!

Interestingly, I had planned to review my planning regularly to make some course corrections where necessary or to stretch my goals further.  But life got in the way (which is code for “I totally forgot!”).

I strongly suggest you take a little bit of time before the year really gets underway to review your 2024.

The Review of 2024

If you aren’t sure where to start, here are some prompts I have found useful:

Go through your calendar month by month and take a note of any particularly memorable or significant events/memories (you may be surprised what you had forgotten.)  You may find scrolling back through your camera reels might also help.

Ask yourself what made you feel:

  • Happy
  • Proud
  • Sad
  • Disappointed
  • Challenged
  • Surprised
  • other feelings you may notice

Did you take any big risks? How did they go?

Is there anything you did for someone else? How did it make you feel? How did it make them feel?

Who in your life were you grateful for?  Who inspired you?  Are there new people in your life that have made a difference? Are there people no longer in your life (for whatever reason)?
If you can, take a moment to thank them for their contribution to your 2024 (if it’s not something you are comfortable doing, write them a letter – you don’t have to send it or even show them it – but I do encourage you to write it down or speak it out loud).

What have you learned about yourself?

What do you have wanted to do:

  • more of?
  • less of?
  • differently?

You don’t need to write war and peace, just start with a few words and see where the pen takes you (or your fingers if you are typing!)

The Journey of 2025

Once you have a good review of 2024, cast your mind forward to where you want to be this time next year.

What do you want more or less of?

Who do you want to spend more of less time with?

Are there any habits you want to break or make?

Do you have any goals that you would like to see come to fruition?  Once you write them down and read them back to yourself, notice how they feel and then work out what you can do to make the dream become a reality.

The very act of visualising/imagining where you will be by the end of the year is very powerful.

I was going to quote a bunch of statistics around goal setting but as I couldn’t find the sources for the ones I had taken a note of, I felt it safer to summarise.

If you define and write down your goal, you are much more likely to achieve it than if you just ‘kinda think about it’.  The likelihood of achieving it goes up the more you flesh it out.  Telling one person you trust what it is and asking them to check in on you monthly or quarterly increases that even further.  And weekly ‘accountability’ or check ins can get you there even more quickly.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab a notepad and start planning.  If it’s not something you feel you can do on your own, remember I do offer coaching and mentoring (as well as Kinesiology) so I am happy to help you work out what your goal plan could be.

As for me? I have put my plan into a file that I open every week, and I have scheduled check in’s weekly to review my plan, and I have my accountability buddies in place.

Here’s to smashing our goals in 2025  whether they be in business, mindset, money or health and wellbeing.  We’ve got this! 😊
