International Kinesiology Day

First published 15 March 2025

I could fib and say the reason this is hitting your mailbox late is that it is International Kinesiology Day tomorrow and I wanted to give you a heads-up closer to the day…

However the truth is a little more mundane – I was training last week in Yorkshire and the hotel I booked that promised WIFI, did not deliver (and that’s only the surface of what was wrong with the place!).  The training over the last couple of weeks has been fascinating and really useful.

I am now able to help clients even more than before – In course 1 we worked in great detail on the fascia so I now have more tools in the toolkit for dealing with pain.

Course 2 was all about geobiology and the energy from the ground below our feet – so if you have recently moved and you are feeling a bit more sluggish than usual or if you moved a while ago and things have felt off since then, there may be something we can do to rectify the effects.  In class most of us have been living in the same place for well over a decade and it was enthralling to see the impact living in difficult spaces can have on the body.

If you are wondering what that has to do with Kinesiology, they were both Kinesiology courses.  So – it is all tested out specifically and uniquely for each new body, making it what that person needs right then.

It did feel good to be studying and working with fellow kinesiologists in person and for it to be during most of Kinesiology week was just the icing on the cake!

Energising with circadian rhythms - night to day with a brain overlaid and an alarm clock on top of the brain

Circadian Rhythms

Meanwhile, the latest episode of Therapists in Conversation came out about 10 days ago so if you want to know more about what circadian rhythms are click the link now.

I did cover chronotypes and being a night owl back in October, however, this conversation goes in many different directions as usual.  I’d be interested to know your thoughts on our latest episode.

Interestingly, since we recorded this I read a book (surprise, surprise) called ‘The Unappreciated Power of Naps’ by Jade Wu.  My thoughts on waking time may be changing.  I have always been of the mind that weekends, when I don’t have plans, are all about the long lie-in.  The book discusses that this approach is akin to ‘social jetlag’ so I am now re-thinking this – I’ll keep you posted if I ban the lie in so that I am not in a constant norm of ‘shifting time zones’ – while logically she made a good point, I may miss those lie-ins – maybe I will more fully embrace the nap instead 😉

And how does the content above and below the photo connect…?  Well, I am going to clutch at straws in that I was joined on the panel again by a fellow Health Kinesiologist – that works right?

Anyhoo – I’ll leave you in peace to enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Have a very Happy Kinesiology Day tomorrow – and if you fancy trying it or booking in again after a time away, I’d love to see you back on the couch or on Zoom!
