When Wellness Comes with Its Own Challenges…
I’m sharing something a bit different today, an amusing/frustrating personal story.
You know how they say, “be careful what you wish for”?
Well, I’ve discovered there’s a HUGE notable downside to having my hay fever completely resolved through kinesiology.
A bit of background: I’d been suffering from hay fever since I was about 12.
It was so bad that I was taking antihistamine tablets every single day of the year (I also have a diagnosis of Oral Allergy Syndrome, which means no raw fruit and veggies either – but that’s another story involving EpiPens!), and on really bad days, I’d need multiple pills just to function (I think my record was 6 in one day and that was my firmly indoors with the windows shut!).
The sneezing, itchy eyes, and constant tissue supply were just part of my identity.
Kinesiology Success?
Through my journey with kinesiology, my body has been ‘recalibrated’ so that the response to pollen is now ‘normal’,
I’ve experienced something I never thought possible – total freedom from hay fever symptoms.
No more daily pills.
No more emergency antihistamines in every pocket and bag.
No more planning outdoor activities around pollen forecasts. It’s genuinely life-changing (and I can enjoy fruit and salad again too!)

Plot Twist
There’s just one small hitch in this journey that I didn’t anticipate…
For years, my dad has very kindly taken care of cutting my grass (approximately 25×5 metres) because, well, “Please daaaaaad, I can’t cut the grass with my hay fever!” 🙏🏼
Now that my body no longer perceives pollen as the enemy, I’ve lost my most effective excuse!
Disaster – yup, the grass-cutting duties have fallen squarely back on my shoulders. 🤦♀️
As I was pushing the lawnmower on Wednesday, noticing the fresh-cut grass smell that would have had me running for the indoors in fits of sneezes before, I couldn’t help but laugh/grumble at this little “downside” of wellness.
If You’re Still Battling Hay Fever While Awaiting Your Session
While my story hopefully gives you a giggle, I know many of you are not looking forward to the coming pollen season ahead.
So, here are a few tips MAY help to manage symptoms until you can get booked in:
- Local honey: A spoonful of local honey daily can help your body gradually adapt to local pollen.
- Nasal rinsing: A simple saline rinse can flush pollen from your nasal passages – tremendously effective (even if the thought of it isn’t pleasant).
- Evening showers: Washing off the pollen before bed prevents transferring it to your bed sheets.
- Vaseline barrier: A small amount around your nostrils can trap pollen before it enters your system (this one did help me even if it was only a little)
- Sunglasses every time you are outside: They’re not just for sun – they help keep pollen away from your eyes.
Ready to Tell Your Body Pollen Isn’t the Enemy?
While these tips may help manage symptoms, they’re not addressing the root cause.
Through Health Kinesiology, we can work with your body’s energy systems to recalibrate how it responds to pollen – potentially eliminating the need for medication altogether.
Yes, you might end up with more garden responsibilities as a result, but I promise the freedom from symptoms is (mostly) worth it!
Click one of the booking links below and let’s get started. The quicker we can work on retraining your system to understand that pollen doesn’t have to be its enemy the quicker you can enjoy the outside world!
Until next week, wishing you wellness (and manageable garden duties),
P.S. If you know someone who is currently suffering through the hay fever season, please forward this email. While I can’t promise they’ll escape gardening duties, I can help them breathe more freely!
