Permission to Start Over

The Beautiful Messiness of New Beginnings

Another week – another permission slip 😉

The latest episode of ‘Therapists in Conversation’ (Episode 61 – ‘Starting Over’) went live this morning.

As we kicked off Season 6, our panel found ourselves deep in conversation about what it truly means to begin again, and I couldn’t help but think of you.

Here’s the thing that struck me most: you don’t need anyone’s permission to start over.

Yep – it might sound obvious, but how many of us are waiting for the “right” moment, the perfect circumstances, or some external validation before we make that change we’ve been quietly contemplating?

The truth is, life is inherently uncertain – we never truly know what’s around the next corner. Yet somehow, we’ve convinced ourselves that starting over is scarier than staying stuck.

But what if we flipped that narrative?

What if, instead of focusing on the fear of the unknown, we allowed ourselves to get curious about the possibilities?

What if starting over isn’t about hugely dramatic life overhauls, but about giving ourselves permission to try something different – even in small ways?

how o you feel about starting over

Maybe it’s taking a different route to work, trying that new coffee shop you’ve walked past every day for weeks, or simply just letting yourself think about what you’d do if you really put yourself first.

These small shifts can be the beginning of something beautiful.  And who doesn’t want that?

I see this so often with my lovely clients – brilliant people who’ve forgotten they have the power to choose differently (if you recognise yourself in that statement… Good! 😉).

They are waiting for permission that’s already theirs.

The adventure of starting over doesn’t require anyone else’s approval; it just requires your willingness to take that first step.

Yes, it can feel scary.

Yes, there are no guarantees.

But the possibilities that open up when we give ourselves permission to begin again? They can be absolutely incredible.

If you’ve been harbouring  thoughts of change, of putting yourself first, or of starting something new, and not sure where to start or even how to start, I’d love to explore this with you.

Sometimes we need a safe space to untangle what’s holding us back and discover what’s truly possible.

Are You Ready to give yourself permission to start over?

I’m here to support you every step of the way.
