Why Your Dreams Need a Mid-Year MOT
First published 29 June 2025
Remember those New Year’s resolutions we usually make with such conviction in January?
Typically written down, perhaps in your new diary or planner with that fresh-start energy, most likely after clearing out the Quality Street tin and promising ourselves this will be our year?
Well, here we are at the end of June, and I’m wondering – how are you getting on?
How many curveballs have been thrown in your direction?
Maybe your morning meditation practice lasted exactly three days (I know a good book that can help with that – link below 😉), or that genius business idea is still sitting in your notebook gathering dust.
Perhaps you started strong but somewhere around March, things began to drift.
Here’s the thing though – and this is crucial – small deviations create massive differences.
Think about this: if we were flying from Glasgow to New York (come on, dream with me here for the direct flights) but the navigation was just two degrees off course, we wouldn’t land in Manhattan. We’d end up somewhere around the coast of South America.
Two tiny degrees.
That’s the difference between reaching our intended destination and ending up on an entirely different continent.
The same principle applies to our goals and dreams.
The Power of the Mid-Year Check-In
This is exactly why successful people don’t wait until December to see how they’ve done.
They course-correct along the way.
They treat their goals like a GPS system – constantly recalibrating, adjusting the route when they hit roadworks, and celebrating when they’re making good progress.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we talk about the concept of balance through the five elements.
Right now, we’re moving from the Wood element of spring (growth and new beginnings) into the Fire element of summer (manifestation and action).
This is the perfect time to assess whether the seeds you planted in January are growing in the right direction.
From a kinesiology perspective, your body’s wisdom already knows if you’re on track.
That feeling of alignment when things are flowing?
That’s your meridian system in harmony.
The stress and tension you feel when you’re off course?
That’s your body’s way of telling you it’s time to make some adjustments.
Your Energy System Knows the Truth
Your chakras – those energy centres that govern different aspects of your life – are brilliant indicators of where you might need to course-correct:
- Root chakra (survival, stability): Are your foundational habits supporting your goals?
- Sacral chakra (creativity, passion): Do your goals still excite you, or they now just a chore?
- Solar plexus (personal power): Are you taking consistent action, or are you stuck in planning mode?
- Heart chakra (love, connection): Are your goals aligned with what truly matters to you?
When we ignore these internal signals and plough on regardless, we often find ourselves exhausted, frustrated, and wondering why we’re not getting the results we want.

It’s Not Too Late (In Fact, It’s Perfect Timing)
The beautiful thing about a mid-year review is that you’ve got six months left.
Six whole months to redirect, refine, or even completely reimagine what you want to achieve.
Maybe your original goals need tweaking because you’ve learned something new about yourself.
Perhaps you need to break them down into smaller, more manageable steps.
Or maybe – and this is important – you need to acknowledge that some goals no longer serve you and it’s time to let them go. (I’ve been reading all about the sunk cost fallacy recently so, I’m happy to chat if this one resonates for you)
This isn’t failure. This is wisdom.
Your Mid-Year Mission
So here’s what I invite you to do this week:
Take an honest look at what you hoped to achieve in 2025.
Pull out that list, that vision board, or that mental picture you had of where you’d aimed to be by now.
Ask yourself:
- What’s working brilliantly? (Celebrate it!)
- Where have I drifted off course?
- What needs adjusting to get me back on track?
- Which goals still light me up, and which feel heavy?
- What would make the biggest difference if I focused on it for the next three months?
Remember, small course corrections now can mean the difference between landing where you intended or finding yourself somewhere completely unexpected come December.
Your dreams deserve more than a December review. They deserve your attention, your adjustments, and your commitment to staying on course.
What will you choose to focus on for the rest of 2025?
With love and gentle accountability,
If you’re feeling stuck or would like some support with your mid-year recalibration, drop me a line. Sometimes we all need a co-pilot to help us navigate back to our true north.
and as I suggested some celebration where things are going well… I know it was later than planned but I am really proud of my new book! https://mybook.to/snapintocalm
