I hope you’re doing well and finding moments of clarity in whatever this week has brought your way.
Episode 63 of ‘Therapists in Conversation’ was released this week – ‘A Perception of Reality (yours or mine…?)’ – and I’m still processing some of the fascinating discussions we had.
It’s got me thinking about something that comes up time and again with my clients: the unique lens through which each of us views the world.
Here’s what struck me most: your reality isn’t wrong – it’s simply yours.
We all carry our own invisible filters, don’t we?
They’re shaped by everything from our upbringing and cultural background to that conversation we had last Tuesday that left us feeling unsettled.
Our filters influence, or perhaps dictate, how we interpret a colleague’s email tone, how we react to unexpected changes, or even how we perceive our own worth on any given day. Sometimes these filters serve us beautifully. They help us navigate familiar situations, protect us from repeating past mistakes, and connect us with people who share similar perspectives.
But sometimes – and this is where it gets interesting – these same filters can become barriers that keep us stuck in patterns that no longer serve us.

In Health Kinesiology, we understand that our energy system holds onto these perceptions and experiences.
When our meridians are blocked or our chakras are out of balance, it can quite literally colour how we see the world – and it’s not always a pleasing palette.
What feels like “just the way things are” might actually be an energetic pattern that’s been running on autopilot for years.
I’ve worked with people who have been convinced that other people found them to be “too much.”
They find that all of their interactions are filtered through this belief, which leads to them keeping themselves small. And when we keep ourselves small, we are not living authentically.
When we can work through this, we typically find that the beliefs are rooted in energetic blocks, perhaps stemming from one conversation or interaction that happened years prior. We then go looking for proof in every future interaction that we are “too much”, even when we have consciously forgotten the original event that created this belief.
Through sessions with clients, we can clear these blocks (the most obvious way on paper is with a Belief System Elimination – but our systems don’t always pick the ‘obvious on paper’ option!). And this ‘simple’ correction can lead to quite profound perception shifts.
You won’t become a different person; you may simply begin to see yourself and others through a clearer lens. (trust me – I am also a photographer and I know the difference a clean lens can make 😉)
The beautiful thing about recognising our filters is that we get to choose which ones to keep and which ones to release. We don’t need to accept every perception as absolute truth
Note – other filters are available, and you may be viewing life through many of them, occasionally all at the same time!
So here’s my gentle challenge for you this week:
Start paying attention to how you’re reacting to the world around you.
Notice when something triggers a strong response (or any response if you are already in tune with the strong ones).
Ask yourself: “Is this reaction about what’s actually happening right now, or am I viewing it through an old filter?”
Sometimes this awareness is enough to create a shift.
Sometimes, we need a bit more support to release the patterns that are keeping us stuck.
If you’re finding it difficult to step back and observe your own filters, or if you suspect some of your perceptions might be holding you back from putting yourself first in your own life, I’m here to help.
Through Health Kinesiology, we can identify and clear the energetic blocks that are influencing how you experience your reality.
Ready to see the world through clearer eyes? Book a session and let’s explore what’s possible when you release the filters that no longer serve you.
Here’s to seeing clearly – whatever that looks like for you.
If you fancy going down the rabbit hole with us, you can catch Episode 63 of ‘Therapists in Conversation’ here. We may get wonderfully philosophical about the nature of reality – Alice would be proud!
