Don’t wait until you’re running on fumes

Your Energy Account: Are You Heading Into Overdraft This Christmas?

It’s December – how did that happen?

We are fast approaching Christmas, and I’m noticing something a lot of my clients and connections have in common: their energy bank account is already in the red.

And that’s before the family gatherings, gift shopping, work deadlines, and all the “shoulds” of the season they still have to face. Here’s what I know from years of working with the body’s energy systems: your meridians don’t lie.

When you’re depleted, your body will tell you – through exhaustion, illness, anxiety, or that overwhelming feeling of “I just can’t cope with one more thing.”

All hope is not lost though – so bear with me…

The Energy Equation

Think of your energy like a bank account.

Every day, we are making deposits and withdrawals.

The problem is, most of us are withdrawing far more than we’re depositing, especially at this time of year.

Energy vampires are sneaky.  They include the obvious ones – poor sleep, too much alcohol, doom-scrolling through social media at midnight.

But they also include the subtle drains: resentment we’re still carrying, the clutter in the kitchen, overthinking every family interaction, or trying to meet expectations (real or imagined) that leave us feeling inadequate and, quite frankly, miserable.

From a kinesiology perspective, when our energy is constantly depleted, the body goes into survival mode.  The root chakra becomes unstable, our stress response stays switched on, and our immune system struggles.  Not the best state to be in when you’re about to spend three days with your extended family.

Energy boosters, on the other hand, are way simpler than you might think.

  • A 10-minute walk in daylight.
  • Drinking enough water.
  • Saying no to something that drains you.
  • Laughing with someone who gets you.
  • Moving your body in ways that feel good.

These are not luxuries – they are essential deposits into your energy account.

Winter is associated with the Water element – a time for conservation, rest, and going inward.

So how is that working out for us?  Our culture demands the opposite: more activity, more socialising, more everything.  Even taking a holiday from work can lead to having to do so much more work in advance to make sure nothing is missed.  And that’s before we even think of any end-of-year deadlines (not going to lie, I have really not missed end-of-year appraisals and the paperwork that goes along with them!)

No wonder we’re completely knackered.

Your Festive Survival Strategy

I’ve created a simple wallet-sized guide (download link below) with quick energy check-ins you can do anywhere – whether you’re stuck in traffic heading to your in-laws or hiding in the bathroom during Boxing Day.

But here’s my real invitation: don’t wait until you’re running on empty.

If you’re already feeling stretched thin, imagine how you’ll feel in three weeks.

Book a session now – before the chaos peaks.

Let’s balance your energy systems, release what’s weighing you down, and build resilience so you can actually enjoy this season rather than merely survive it.

You deserve to experience December with energy to spare, not fumes.

Head over to the contact page to get a session booked in or for the handy check-in guide.

If December already feels impossible, that’s your body’s wisdom speaking

Listen to it.
