Are you OK?

Are you OK?

First Published 19 January 2023

The week started with ‘Blue Monday’… whether it’s a real thing and as a whole we all felt pretty rubbish on Monday, or as I read this week it’s a marketing ploy to get people to book holidays(!), I do want to ask – are you OK?

Remember it’s ok to not be ok – it’s just not ok to stay there!

Dealing with “feeling blue” can be difficult, but there are ways to help yourself get through it.

It’s important to remember that feeling blue or not quite right is normal and that it will pass. Most of us live life on a wave – sometimes it can feel like a rollercoaster with us veering quite a distance from ok and for others it can be a lot more gentle like waves on a calm beach – but we do all have those peaks and troughs.

Focus on things that make you feel good – do something creative, take a break from work, or spend time with friends and family.

Exercise can also be great for lifting your mood – even a short walk can help.

And don’t forget the importance getting enough sleep and eating healthily.

Taking care of yourself is key to getting through the blues. So, if you are not OK, please do reach out to your ‘supporters’ (or me) and take the time to understand what’s going on for you and a way to work through it.

Sometimes it’s enough to be creative, go for a walk and to eat and sleep well – other times you might need support.

If you are OK, my invitation to you is to ask a couple of people you know if they are ok, and really take the time to listen to what they have to say. If they don’t want to talk, suggest going for a walk or for lunch – allowing someone to know that you care can make a massive difference.

If you feel the need for a natter, the zoffee link is open as usual!
