Living life in flow

Wouldn’t it be amazing to live life in flow…?
Being in flow is a state of mind in which you are completely immersed in an activity and completely focused or ‘in the zone’.
It is that feeling of being completely present and energised, often times this leads to feelings of joy, accomplishment and satisfaction. Where we are effortlessly creative and productive, where time feels like it’s standing still.
I know it’s a place I would like to spend more time in!
So, how about a few tips to help us feel motivated and to hopefully get us in the zone to be in flow?
- Take regular breaks. This might seem counterintuitive but it will help as it encourages relaxation and a recharge (and will prevent burnout!)
- Set goals. This will help to keep focus and progress – break big tasks up in to smaller ones that are more manageable – and it gives us more ticks in the completed tasks column which is turn will aid motivation.
- Make a plan. Write it down – it doesn’t have to be a 50 page business case/report – even a bullet pointed list will help with focus and organisation.
- Find your motivation. What was the spark that got you started and then moved you in to the zone in the past? Pay attention to what your motivators were to ensure that you keep motivated.
- And my favourite one – Reward yourself! Celebrate the wins, successes, accomplishments and ticks in the done column!
