It’s about Time… (How Long Will It Take?)

First Published 11 April 2024

How often do we mumble under our breath “It’s about time!”?  Whether it’s waiting for a bus, a project deadline, our meal at a busy restaurant, or perhaps that good night’s sleep (apologies if last week’s missives had the opposite effect and have kept you up at night 😳).  But, when it comes to personal growth and positive change, how long does “it” really take?

As we begin our 5th season, this month’s episode of Therapists in Conversation dives head first into the topic:  “It’s About Time” (You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjfxdlWArqg)

The Frustration of Time Frames

The one-size-fits-all timeline for ‘fixing the problem’ may be expected but, it isn’t realistic – which can be frustrating.  We all want a clear answer – “just give it x weeks and I’ll be a new person with my life in order!”  Unfortunately, life is never that straightforward – and in reality, the answer is far more nuanced, leading to my favourite response – “It depends!”

The “It depends” Answer

As a kinesiology practitioner, I often get asked this question: “How long will it take me to [insert desired outcome]?  The truth is, there is no one single answer.  Every client’s journey is as unique as their DNA – tailored to their specific circumstances, goals and past experiences.  In fact, that journey can even vary for an individual if they first come to me this week or next month!  Kinesiology allows us to work with the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, to find the root causes of their struggles and unlock their potential for change.

Another way to think of it is to imagine a really tangled mess of wool.  Untangling a small knot might take a few minutes, but the whole ball is going to take a lot longer and needs a more patient, delicate approach.  Kinesiology helps us identify the “knots” that are holding you back, whether they are emotional, physical or energetic.  The time it takes to untangle them depends on how complex they are, and how long they have been tangled for.

Time is Precious – Don’t waste it

While the timeline may be a bit uncertain, one thing is for sure: time is precious.  We don’t have a magic rewind button to allow us to get back lost opportunities or wasted minutes.  By investing in your well-being now, through therapies like Kinesiology (or any of the others offered by the panel), you’re taking a powerful step towards a brighter future. (and if you have already experienced it, don’t forget to tell others!).  And, if you think you don’t have the time for it – just remember, if you don’t make time for your well-ness, you may be forced to take time for your ill-ness.

Ready to Start Your Transformation?

So, what are you waiting for?  Whether you are looking to overcome a specific challenge, improve your overall well-being, or simply unlock your full potential, Kinesiology can be a powerful tool on your journey.  Rather than getting stuck inside the ‘when then’ hamster wheel (when I lose weight, when I feel better, when I have x sorted, when I work out what I want, then I can [fill in the blank]).  Don’t let another minute slip away.  Get in touch today and let’s discover how we can work together to help you create the positive change you deserve.  (and if you want a personal introduction to any of the panel members to work with them, just ask!)

In the meantime, tune into Therapists in Conversation to hear our insightful blether on the topic of time and personal growth – and don’t forget to do the usual like and subscribe thing😉
