Can memories hold you hostage?

When Your Body Remembers What Your Mind Wants to Forget

Have you ever had a seemingly random moment trigger an unexpected emotional response?

A particular smell that makes your stomach tighten.  A song that brings tears before you even register why.  A place that fills you with unease, even though nothing bad happened there – at least, not that you consciously remember.

Here’s what’s fascinating: not all memories live only in your mind.

Some live in your body.  In your muscles.  In your nervous system.  In the energetic pathways running through your entire system, every single day.

The Body Keeps the Score

With Kinesiology (and Traditional Chinese Medicine), we understand that emotions are stored in specific organs and meridians.
Grief settles in the Lungs.
Anger in the Liver.
Fear in the Kidneys.
When we experience something significant – whether joyful or traumatic – our entire system records it, not just our brain.

And it’s not just organs and meridians, our energy centres (known as chakras) hold these memories too.
The solar plexus remembers every time you swallowed your words.
The heart chakra carries past hurts and loves.
The root chakra stores every moment you felt unsafe. The question isn’t whether we have these memories – we all do.  The question is: are they teaching us, or are they controlling us?

The Difference Between Processing and Replaying

There is a crucial difference between learning from our past and being trapped by it.

When we process a memory, we integrate its lessons whilst releasing its hold on us.  Yet, if we simply replay it (perhaps over and over), we run the risk of ‘bad’ memories re-traumatising ourselves, strengthening those neural pathways rather than healing them.

So, what can we do to counteract this and heal the pathways instead of paving them?

If you are noticing that certain memories are taking on a life of their own, there is hope!

Through kinesiology, we can identify where these memories are stored in your energetic system.  We can test which experiences are still creating stress responses in your body, even years later.

And crucially, we can work with your body’s innate wisdom to process and release what no longer serves you.

This isn’t about erasing memories or pretending difficult things didn’t happen.  It’s about changing your relationship with them.  It’s about ensuring that past experiences inform your present without imprisoning it.

Taking Back Control

You deserve to carry wisdom, not wounds.

To remember without re-living.

To honour your experiences whilst moving forward unburdened.

If you’re finding that certain memories seem to have more control over you than you’d like – if your body reacts before your mind can even catch up – it might be time to explore what’s being held in your energetic system.

That’s exactly what we can work on together.

For those of you who haven’t experienced it yet, in a kinesiology session, we use muscle testing to communicate directly with your body, identifying where old memories are creating present-day stress.  Then we work to release those patterns, allowing you to process what happened rather than remain stuck in it.

Are you ready to shift from being controlled by your memories to learning from them?

Just hit reply and get booked in now.

With understanding,

Angela,

P.S. You don’t need to know exactly what memory is causing the issue – your body already knows, and it’s ready to tell us.

P.P.S. If this week’s e-mail feels a bit different, blame it on Star Trek – it’s what sparked the thought that turned into this… yep – I know, I’m a geek 😉
