Your Body Already Knows What Your Mind Won’t Admit

No spilling your guts required – your muscles do the talking!

* Blog exclusive

It’s time to talk about something that often leaves people scratching their heads: Kinesiology. (and if that’s you – welcome, you must be new here 😊)

What is it, why would I want to try it, and if I do try it, what actually happens on that couch?

In our latest ‘Therapists in Conversation’ episode, I was talked into attempting to demystify this work I’m passionate about.

Have you ever noticed that your conscious mind loves to waffle, attempt to rationalise, and talk in circles without ever reaching the crux of the matter? Well, that is where Kinesiology comes into it’s own as it bypasses all of that.

How? Through muscle response monitoring.

This isn’t a tug-of-war to see who’s stronger – it’s about checking the integrity of a muscle, and then using it to deliver information through your body’s energy system. Think of it like a battery: plugged in correctly, energy flows; if you put it in upside down, it drains and stops working properly. So to continue with this analogy, we simply check whether your on/off switch is functioning as it should, and it’s it’s not, we help you turn the batteries around!

It can be done completely content-free – no need to ‘pick the scabs’.

You don’t have to tell me about your trauma, your stress, your goals or your deepest secrets if you don’t want to. You just need to know something isn’t working, and want to do something about it, then your body takes over and does the talking.

We work with acupoints along your meridian pathways – no needles required – to shift the energy with the help of a large menu of ‘corrections’. And then we take on the role of the facilitator, reading the instructions and directions your body provides.

If you come for a session with me, you might notice something odd: I yawn.

A lot.

I promise I’m not bored – for me, a yawn is just a signal that energy is shifting, often linked to the vagus nerve resetting your nervous system. Others practitioners get tummy gurgles, sigh, or swallow. It’s all just the body coming back into balance. You – as the client – will also occasionally experiences these ‘symptoms’ too.

As many of you may already know, I wasn’t always “tuned in” to this world. My background is finance and IT – logical, structured, and admittedly quite cynical. When I first encountered Kinesiology, I didn’t see vivid colours or have dramatic spiritual experiences on the couch like the friend who introduced me to it did, and that’s completely fine. You don’t need a spiritual awakening to benefit from this work.

We are, quite simply, energetic beings with electrical impulses. Sometimes the circuit just needs a little tweak.

We often hear that Kinesiology is one of the world’s best-kept secrets. This is something we would love to change, because everyone deserves to feel better, be better, and do better.

Your body knows exactly what it needs to self-heal – sometimes it just needs help navigating the menu.

Curious what your body might be trying to tell you? Let’s find out together.
